The Oct. 11 commentary by Jonathan McKane (“MaineCare expansion means more budget misery”) finds only bad things about giving free medical care to those who cannot afford it. Nothing good.

He asks the reader to believe a host of half-truths, wishful thinking and gross exaggerations.

MaineCare should not exist in Maine for these people, he writes, because: physician-assisted charity plans are available to take care of them; MaineCare payments are slow; and medical “outcomes” in MaineCare are often worse than what happens to people with no coverage at all.

He protests too much. Who will believe this nonsense?

Vote for Democrat Mike Michaud for governor. He will bring some sanity to our unfair medical picture.
