Police charged three people in connection with two separate methamphetamine operations in northern Maine on Tuesday, bringing to 22 the number of labs broken up this year.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and its Clandestine Drug Laboratory Enforcement Team searched a home in Monticello on Tuesday, leading to the arrest of Mathew Thibodeau, 27, who was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.

Thibodeau was free on bail when Aroostook County Sheriff’s Deputy Erica Pelletier checked on him to make sure he was complying with his bail conditions and found evidence of methamphetamine production. The house was evacuated and a search warrant was obtained, police said.

In East Millinocket, police charged Beau Pelletier, 31, and Cynthia Burley, 33, with trafficking in methamphetamine. East Millinocket police had been investigating suspected drug activity at a Main Street home for several weeks, police said.

Officers found what police described as a significant amount of evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing that had been thrown in trash destined for the town landfill. A search of the apartment turned up several grams of what police believe was recently manufactured methamphetamine.
