MONSON – The Maine attorney general’s office is investigating an officer-involved shooting in the town of Monson.
Officials say a deputy from the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department fired after the man pointed a rifle as deputies were leaving after attempting to serve a harassment notice.
The man, who was not immediately identified, was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
Officials said deputies went to the man’s house after he allegedly threatened employees at the town office. They said he initially slammed the door on deputies before stepping onto the porch to confront them.
