OLD ORCHARD BEACH — An overnight fire damaged an Old Orchard Beach motel, but there were no reports of injuries.

The blaze at the America’s Best Value Inn, 30 W. Grand Ave., was reported at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke and fire showing from the side of the building near the pool.

The fire was under control within a half-hour but Chief Ricky Plummer says two motel units were damaged.

The cause is under investigation, but Plummer says it doesn’t appear suspicious. There were no guests because the motel is closed for the season.

Scarborough, Saco and Buxton fire departments also responded.
