A Waldoboro man remained in critical condition Monday at a Bangor hospital following a motorcycle accident Sunday on Interstate 95 in Sidney, police said.
Michael Tracy, 59, sustained life-threatening injuries after suffering a medical event while riding on a motorcycle with his wife, Cynthia Tracy. Maine State Police Trooper Diane Vance said Monday that his condition had not changed since the accident at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, and his injuries were still life-threatening.
The Tracys were riding south on a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle on Sunday when Michael Tracy suffered a medical event that caused him to lose control, police said. Both riders were not wearing helmets, and both were ejected from the bike and suffered serious injuries, according to Vance.
Michael Tracy was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Cynthia Tracy was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta and was later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center. Vance said Monday that Cynthia Tracy had undergone surgery and was doing well.
The accident Sunday was reported near mile 120 south in Sidney. Traffic in both lanes was closed for about 45 minutes and the road did not completely reopen until around 9 p.m.
Vance, who was at the scene, said that Michael Tracy’s injuries were a combination of the trauma suffered from the bike accident and the medical event he experienced.
She said speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
