Two people from New York and two from Biddeford have been charged with trafficking in heroin and crack cocaine as the result of an investigation by the Biddeford police and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Following the investigation, during which undercover officers bought drugs, police on Thursday stopped a car they said was returning from New York with drugs.

Police charged Raymond Naveo, 20, of the Bronx with a warrant alleging trafficking in crack cocaine. The driver, Niaomi Butts, 33, of Biddeford, was charged with driving with a suspended license and taken to York County Jail in Alfred.

Another passenger, Celina Rodriguez, 20, also of the Bronx, was charged with aggravated trafficking in heroin after she was found in possession of 11 grams of heroin, police said.

At the same time as the traffic stop, MDEA agents, Biddeford police and members of the Southern Maine Violent Crimes Task Force raided 13 Hazel St., where police said the group had been dealing drugs. Police arrested Corey Harmon, 33, of Biddeford, on charges of trafficking in crack cocaine. Police found four grams of heroin in the apartment.

Bail was set at $200,000 for Naveo, $100,000 for Harmon, $10,000 for Rodriguez and $300 for Butts.

When Butts was released on bail Monday, agents confronted her with a search warrant based on information they received that she was carrying drugs she had brought from New York hidden in a body cavity. Butts was taken to Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford, where she was searched and found to have 38 grams of crack cocaine, police said. Police charged Butts with aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine and she was returned to jail with a bail of $25,000.

The drugs seized would be worth $9,000 if sold on the street, police said.

Police said they plan to bring additional charges.
