As gun violence continues unabated, and progress toward sensible and effective gun-control laws withers, Maine Gov. Paul LePage supports the proliferation of guns by opposing efforts to restrict both open and concealed gun carry.

His friend and soulmate, Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, as evidence of their mutual abhorrence of gun control laws, recently vetoed a New Jersey Assembly-passed bill providing a measure of such control.

Since the Constitution says every citizen has the right to bear arms, I think it likely that they might prefer that the government offer free guns to those who do not have them, so they can defend themselves from those who do have them.

And think of the economic benefits accruing from such a policy – more jobs in the gun manufacturing, funeral and health care industries.
