Kenneth Levinsky was re-elected to the board of trustees of the Portland Water District, representing Portland for a five-year term. Levinsky ran unopposed.
Also elected was Joseph Siviski, a trustee of the water district, representing South Portland and the town of Cape Elizabeth for a five-year term. Siviski also ran unopposed.
The Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development welcomed two new members to its board of directors: Jennifer Bush, chief operating officer for HistoryIT; and Brett Austin, president of Kepware Technologies.
March of Dimes has announced that Zander Abbott, vice president of the Women and Children Service Line at Maine Medical Center, was named chair for the March for Babies to be held May 1.
This year’s goal is to raise $30,000 as part of the overall goal of $160,000 on behalf of the organization’s mission to help reduce the premature birth rate and improve the health of babies.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland announced new officers for its board of directors:
John Shumadine of Murray, Plumb & Murray will serve as the board president.
Peter Tousignant of TD Bank will serve as vice president; Julie Ray of Perkins Thompson is secretary; and Jeremy Handlon of Dawson, Smith, Purvis and Bassett is treasurer.
Friends of Midcoast Maine elected three new board members to its board of trustees for three-year terms:
Valli Geiger of Rockland is a member of the City Council.
Peter Gross of Camden is a Maine-licensed architect in Camden and owns Peter Gross Architects.
Benjamin Long of Bowdoinham owns Essential Grant Writing, a freelance grant writing and management service he founded in 2005.
The Kids First Center appointed the following to its board of directors:
Kimberly Kump was appointed chairperson. She has been a board member since 2007.
Ellie Chatto is a certified fraud examiner with extensive experience working with nonprofit organizations.
Also appointed was Dana Prescott, an attorney who practices at Prescott Jamieson Murphy Law Group, who also has a doctorate in social work.
Day One in South Portland elected the following officers to its board of directors:
L. Dennis Carrillo, an attorney at the law offices of Doyle & Nelson, was named president of the board.
Douglas Cranshaw, a retired professional, was named vice-president.
Zander Abbott, vice president of the Women & Children Service Line at Maine Medical Center, was named treasurer.
David Mount, a retired professional, was named secretary.
