Great editorial (“Our View: Gas tax hike will pave the way for growth in Maine,” Feb. 17) regarding the sensibility of raising the gas tax.

With prices at rock bottom, another 10 cents would hardly be noticed.

Driving 20,000 miles a year, with a vehicle that only gets 15 miles per gallon, would raise the cost a mere $130 per year.

Well worth it. Forget the politicians. Think about our roads and bridges in decline.
