READING, Pa. — Jorge Alfaro went 4 for 5 with two RBI and Angelo Mora had three extra-base hits Friday night to lead the Reading Fightin Phils to an 8-3 win over the Portland Sea Dogs.

Reading produced 13 hits against a trio of Sea Dogs pitchers – Justin Haley, Mitch Atkins and Simon Mercedes – and scored in every inning except the sixth. The Fightin Phils were also helped by four Portland errors.

The Sea Dogs took a 1-0 lead in the first when Jantzen Witte homered for the second straight night. But Reading starter Ben Lively allowed just three more hits before leaving after six innings with a 5-2 lead. He struck out seven and walked one.

Witte finished 3 of 4 and picked up another RBI with a sixth-inning single, after a leadoff double by Mike Miller.

Miller scored Portland’s final run on a wild pitch in the eighth inning.

Alfaro, a top catching prospect acquired last summer from the Texas Rangers in the Cole Hamels trade, singled home Mora to tie the game in the bottom of the first.

Mora put the Fightin Phils ahead for good with an RBI double in the second inning. Alfaro added another RBI single in the third, and Mora homered in the fourth to make it 4-1.
