The U.S. Coast Guard towed to safety a 26-foot pleasure craft that was taking on water Sunday afternoon near Boon Island, 6 miles offshore from York.
The boat, The Blue Gold, had about 3 inches of water in the bilge and the engine was not working, said Chief Michael Faivre of the Coast Guard’s northern New England command center.
The Coast Guard dispatched a motor lifeboat out of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and towed the boat, which was carrying two people and a dog, to York Harbor. No one was hurt, Faivre said.
The Coast Guard did not release the name of the boat’s owner.
