BANGOR – Federal prosecutors say a Maine man has been sentenced to six months in prison and fined more than $2,500 for felony driving under the influence in connection with a crash in Acadia National Park that seriously injured his passenger.

Authorities say 29-year-old Justin Bent, of Southwest Harbor, was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in Bangor in connection with the May 2014 accident. He pleaded guilty in February.

Court records show Bent drove his van off the road and into trees. His passenger was airlifted to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for emergency surgery for a bone fracture.

Bent was fined $2,520 and will be on supervised release for three years once he leaves prison.
