Lewiston native Abi Hodgson will be on national TV Tuesday night hoping to come one step closer to winning the $1 million prize offered by the NBC reality TV show ''America's Got Talent.''
AMERICA'S GOT TALENT
WHEN: 9 p.m. Tuesdays, 9 p.m. Wednesdays
WHERE: NBC television stations; locally on WCSH (Ch.6)
WHAT: Lewiston native Abi Hodgson will be appearing in the show as part of the American Military Spouses Choir
If she does win, she’ll have to split the prize money with a few folks.
Hodgson has been appearing on the show as one of the 37 members of the American Military Spouses Choir. The group sang ''Hero'' by Mariah Carey on Aug. 6, and did well enough to advance to the show's semifinals, which are going on now.
The group is scheduled to appear on Tuesday’s episode of the show, airing from 9-11 p.m. Then the group’s members will find out during Wednesday’s results show, airing from 9-10 p.m., whether they got enough audience votes to advance to the show’s top 12 acts or whether they will be eliminated.
The top 12 acts will appear on the show Sept. 10, and the final six will perform Sept. 17. The winning act will be announced on the air Sept. 18.
This season of “America’s Got Talent” began with 60 acts from all over the country. The show, filmed in New York, airs locally on WCSH (Ch. 6).
Hodgson, 28, grew up singing in church – her father is pastor at South Lewiston Baptist Church – and she sang in high school in a range of groups. She now lives in North Carolina, where her husband serves as a Marine. The couple has two children.
