Irish breakfasts and Irish tunes to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

WHETHER YOU'RE IN THE MOOD for a cold pint of Guinness, a freezing dip in the ocean for charity or some traditional Irish music, there are multiple ways to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Here's a sampling:

Napper Tandies plays 8 to 11 a.m.; the Maine Public Safety Pipe & Drum Corps performs 11:15 to 11:45 a.m.; Erin's Guild plays noon to 4 p.m.; Nikki Hunt performs 5 to 8 p.m.; and The Gobshites cap off the day with a performance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

GET YOUR IRISH ON good and early with a traditional breakfast. Continue to celebrate all day with live music and performances. Sean Sheerins and Rakish Paddy play at 7:30 a.m.; at 9 a.m., there's a poetry and literature reading in Gaelic and English of works by Aidan O'Brien and Noel Kirwin. The Kora Highlanders Bagpipers perform at 11:30 a.m.; Irish dancers perform at noon; Jay Biddy plays at 3 p.m.; and Jason Spooner performs 9 p.m. to close.

GET AN EARLY start on the day with the Guinness and eggs breakfast, which is served beginning at 6 a.m. The live music begins at 10 a.m. with Jeff Herbster on bagpipes. At noon, solo acoustic artist Brian Patrick hits the stage; Kora Shriners bagpipers perform at 3 p.m.; and Mike Rodriquez plays at 5 p.m. At 9 p.m., there's a double bill with The Dirty Limericks upstairs and DJ Double G downstairs.

• ST. PATRICK'S DAY AT MISS PORTLAND DINER

LISTEN TO local bagpipers while dining between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. during lunch and between 5 and 7 p.m. during dinner. The diner will be serving special Irish meals such as corned beef hash, Irish Benedicts, Irish omelets, and corned beef and cabbage. Wine and beer will also be served.

• ST. PADDY'S ROCK'N PUNKFEST

BANDS FROM Maine and all over New England explode onto the stage for this 21-and-older show; however, anyone age 16 and older can attend if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Bands include Sex Tax, Jodi Explodi, Dept. of Offense, The New 45, The Burls, The Tin Thistles, Rio Bravo, Connelly, The Skummy Men, Better Than and Death Buy Radio.
