Religion Calendar

Benefit Concert, 6 p.m., with Dean Richardson, Roger Buzby and Frank Marston to benefit Straight Ahead Ministries and First Fruits Ministries. Held at First E Free Church of Maine, 355 Bridgton Road, Westbrook. An offering will be taken.

National Day of Prayer, 6 to 7 p.m., service at First Baptist Church, 360 Canco Road, Portland.

Bake sale, to benefit Loaves and Fishes, will be held during business hours at Sabattus Regional Credit Union, 2 Middle St., Sabattus.

Friday

"Have Religious Institutions Lost 'Prophetic Edge?"' 11 a.m., with Ray McGovern, a retired CIA analyst and a spokesperson for Not in Our Name, will speak at State Street Church, Portland.

"It Is Well -- Life in the Storm," 7 p.m., author Chris Faddis will discuss his book, which documents his family's journey of faith, and how he is inspired by the memory of his wife, Angela, who died of colon cancer. Rummage and perennial sale, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Cressey Road United Methodist Church, off Route 25, Gorham.

Saturday

Rummage sale, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Clark Memorial United Methodist Church, Forest and Pleasant avenues, Portland.

Gas Buy Down, starting at 11 a.m., Next Level Church will be paying the difference between $2.89 per gallon and the day's normal fuel price for 2,500 gallons of gasoline at the Citgo Xtra Mart Gas Station, 865 Brighton Ave., Portland. Volunteers will be on hand to assist those purchasing gas, and local police will help with traffic flow.
