Joanna M. Swihart, 21, and Tyler Pain, 27, broke into the home, threatened the occupant with scissors and then left, according to a police report.

The homeowner called police after the two left around 12:30 p.m., according to Farmington Police Officer Ryan Wagner.

Nothing was reported taken from the home and police are still investigating why the two people were at the residence.

The two are charged with burglary, aggravated criminal trespass and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon. A burglary charge may be made if a home is broken into and nothing stolen.

Swihart is charged as an accomplice to the crimes, Wagner said.

He said Swihart was found and arrested at a Quick Stop convenience store in Jay around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, and Pain was arrested at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department around 7 p.m. after he drove himself to the office and asked to speak with an officer

Both are being held at the Franklin County jail.

Pain’s bail is set at $5,000 cash or a contract with Maine Pretrial Services. Swihart was released on personal recognizance Monday afternoon.
