Kennebunk police arrested two people Thursday who allegedly were involved in two home burglaries and one attempted burglary earlier this week and may be linked to similar crimes in New Hampshire.

According to police, the owners of a home on Fairway Drive said they returned home Tuesday to find that their house had been burglarized. At about the time police were responding to that call, another home owner on Sea Garden Circle reported a burglary and a neighbor reported an attempted burglary. In the attempted burglary, the homeowner said the burglars ran away when they saw the home was occupied and the homeowner was calling 911.

Witnesses said the burglars were a man and a woman and the homeowners reported that cash and electronic items were missing.

Kennebunk police said they learned that similar burglaries had been committed in Exeter, N.H. Working with police in Exeter, Kennebunk police said they were able to identify potential suspects and the car they were using. That car was located at the Biddeford Hotel, where police arrested the car’s owner, Terry M. Deschenes, 23, of Seabrook, N.H.

Deschenes was arrested on a warrant for violating probation in New Hampshire and Kennebunk police said they expect to file charges soon.

He is being held at York County Jail awaiting extradition to New Hampshire.

Arrested with Deschenes was Shannon M. Reed, 24, of Portsmouth, N.H., who was charged with three counts of burglary and taken to York County Jail.
