EDGECOMB — Deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting that took place on Wednesday afternoon in the town of Edgecomb.
Lt. Rand Maker said a 70-year-old man, who lives on Moonlight Drive, contacted police around 12:30 to report that he had been shot in the neck.
The man was transported by ambulance to the Edgecomb Fire Department where he was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Rand said investigators believe the shooting was self-inflicted and unintentional. The man, who suffered a non-life threatening injury, is not being identified at this time.
