OGUNQUIT — An 89-year-old Ogunquit man has died following a pre-Christmas accident in which a car hit him while he was walking.
Ogunquit police said on Wednesday that Richard Adams, 89, died on Dec. 30 as a result of his injuries sustained in the accident on Dec. 22.
Peter Wilder, 26, of Newfields, N.H., was driving a 2001 Subaru Legacy on Route 1 near Shore Road in the village square when he hit Adams at 3:45 p.m., police said.
Police said there have been no charges in the crash. Accident reconstruction is still under way, police said.
The speed limit in the square is 25 mph, police said.
