Time Warner Cable has donated $35,000 to support service learning projects in Maine schools that involve science, technology, engineering and math, according to the Maine Commission for Community Service.

The donation will help the commission augment federal funding that’s coming to Maine for similar purposes, said Michael Ashmore, the commission’s grants officer.

The cable company provided the money as part of its science and technology education initiative, “Connect a Million Minds,” which started last fall.

Schools may apply for grants through the commission. For more information, visit the Maine Service Commission Web site.
