From staff reports
PORTLAND — The body of a 65-year-old man was found in a room at Motel 6 on Riverside Street on Sunday afternoon, and his death does not appear to be suspicious, police said.
Lt. Gary Hutcheson of the Portland Police Department said the state Medical Examiner's Office was notified, but the man appears to have died in his motel room of natural causes. No autopsy was planned.
Police were trying to locate his next of kin.
Hutcheson said the man was a transient who was a guest at the motel but had not been living there on a long-term basis.
The man's body, which was discovered around noon, was taken to a local funeral home.
