Maine Colleges: Anna Maria rally sinks MMA, 55-49

CASTINE - Josh Sundquist caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from Gregory McGoldrick with 46 seconds left as Anna Maria College slipped past Maine Maritime Academy 55-49 on Saturday.

Anna Maria (1-1) scored 29 unanswered points to rally past the Mariners (0-1). Michael Fahey rushed for 217 yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries for the Mariners, who led 49-26 with 11:57 left in the third quarter.

Billy Wetherbee added a pair of touchdowns and 163 yards rushing for Maine Maritime.

SPRINGFIELD 36, HUSSON 0: Louis Fenaroli ran for 92 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Pride (2-0) combined to rush for almost 400 yards in a win over the Eagles (0-2) at Springfield, Mass.


FRAMINGHAM ST. 6, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Isabela DeSouza and Marisa Parent each scored two goals as the Rams (3-1) scored twice in the first three minutes and beat the Huskies (3-3) at Gorham.

ST. JOSEPH'S 2, JOHNSON & WALES 1: Danielle Daigle scored two goals in the opening 17 minutes of the game and the Monks (4-1, 1-0 GNAC ) held on to beat the Wildcats (2-2-1, 0-1) at Standish. Kim Jordan assisted on both goals.

BOWDOIN 0, AMHERST 0: Bridget McCarthy made six saves as the Polar Bears (1-0-1, 1-0-1) tied the Lord Jeffs (1-0-1, 1-0-1) in a NESCAC game at Amherst, Mass.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 3, NICHOLS 2: Margaret Palmer scored her second goal in the 82nd minute as the Nor'easters (4-2, 1-0) beat the Bison (2-3, 0-1) in a Commonwealth Coast game at Dudley, Mass.

Palmer opened the scoring in the 14th minute and Alex Wells scored just before halftime.

TUFTS 2, COLBY 0: Anya Kaufmann opened the scoring in the 29th minute and the Jumbos (1-2, 1-1 NESCAC) held on to edge the Mules (0-2, 0-2) at Somerville, Mass.

HAMILTON 1, BATES 0: Victoria Freeman scored off a corner kick in the 71st minute and Liza Gergenti stopped all five shots she faced as the Continentals (2-1, 1-1 NESCAC ) blanked the Bobcats (2-1, 1-1) at Clinton, N.Y.


NICHOLS 1, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 0: Scott Palmerino scored in the 14th minute and Jeremy Nash stopped five shots as the Bison (4-0-1, 1-0 CCC) beat UNE (3-1-1, 0-1) at Dudley, Mass.

WORCESTER ST. 4, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Four different players scored for the Lancers (1-1-3) as they cruised past the Huskies (0-5-1) at Gorham.

TUFTS 1, COLBY 0: Tal Smith scored off a cross from Max Hoppenot in the 39th minute and the Jumbos (3-0, 2-0 NESCAC) held off the Mules (1-2, 0-2) at Somerville, Mass.

BATES 0, HAMILTON 0: Zach Shabman made nine saves to record his second shutout of the season for the Bobcats (1-1-1, 0-1-1 NESCAC) against the Continentals (1-1-1, 0-1-1) at Clinton, N.Y.

ST. JOSEPH'S COLLEGE 2, SUFFOLK 0: Zach Johnson and Kyle Shangraw each scored as St. Joseph's (3-2-1, 1-0) opened its GNAC schedule with a victory over Suffolk (0-5, 0-1) in Boston.

AMHERST 3, BOWDOIN 0: Ben Norton and Greg Singer each scored first-half goals as the Lord Jeffs (4-0, 2-0 NESCAC) downed the Polar Bears (1-2, 0-2) at Amherst, Mass.


BRIDGEWATER ST. 1, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Demi Miskiv scored 10:21 into the second half to lift the Bears (3-1, 1-0 Little East) over the Huskies (3-3, 0-1) at Bridgewater, Mass.

VIRGINIA 2, MAINE 0: The fifth-ranked Cavaliers (6-0) took advantage of an own goal 1:44 into the game and added an insurance goal in the final minute over the Black Bears (2-4) at Burlington, Vt.
