LAS VEGAS – Rachel Hermus scored 26 points and Jamie Kuhl had 12 points and eight rebounds to lead St. Norbert’s to a 78-69 victory over the Bates women’s basketball team in the D3hoops.com Classic on Tuesday night.

Allie Beaulie led the Bobcats (7-2) with 24 points, including six 3-pointers.

Rebounding proved to be the difference in the game as the Green Knights (7-1) won the battle of the boards, 36-23.

 

(9) STANFORD 89, (4) XAVIER 52: Nnemkadi Ogwumike had 23 points and 11 rebounds and the Cardinal (8-2) routed the Musketeers (10-2) for a 51st straight home win.

McAuley graduate Ashley Cimino played 2 minutes for the Cardinal. She hit a 3-pointer and pulled down a rebound.

(10) NORTH CAROLINA 75, COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON 49: Waltiea Rolle scored 15 points and Jessica Breland had 14 points, leading the Tar Heels (12-0) to a win over the Cougars (4-7) at Chapel Hill, N.C.

 

FOOTBALL

CHAMPS SPORTS BOWL: Russell Wilson threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns, leading North Carolina State past No. 22 West Virginia 23-7 at Orlando, Fla.

Wilson also had 41 yards rushing, Josh Czajkowski had three field goals and the Wolfpack (9-4) won nine games for the second time in school history.

Geno Smith had 196 yards passing and an injured Noel Devine ran for 50 yards for the Mountaineers (9-4), who had five second-half turnovers.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

(5) SYRACUSE 81, PROVIDENCE 74: Kris Joseph had a career-high 27 points and Scoop Jardine scored 17 of his 21 in the second half as Syracuse beat visiting Providence in the Big East opener for both teams.

Jardine had nine points to key an 11-2 run that gave Syracuse a 62-49 lead and the Orange (14-0) held on despite 27 points from Marshon Brooks.

(11) KENTUCKY 91, COPPIN STATE 61: Terrence Jones scored 18 points, Brandon Knight added 17 points and eight assists and Wildcats (10-2) rolled by the Eagles (4-6) at Lexington, Ky.

Kentucky shot 57 percent from the field — including 74 percent in the second half — to overwhelm the Eagles.

(12) PURDUE 80, MICHIGAN 57: JaJuan Johnson scored 22 points, E’Twaun Thomas added 20 points and the Boilermakers (12-1, 1-0 Big Ten) rolled past the Wolverines (10-3, 0-1) at Ann Arbor, Mich.

 

WISCONSIN 68, (14) MINNESOTA 60: Jordan Taylor scored 22 points and Jon Leuer added 16 to lead the Badgers (11-2) to an upset of the Golden Gophers (11-2) at Madison, Wis.
