First Hikes

Jan. 1, statewide

Maine State Parks, along with state parks nationwide, will celebrate First Day Hikes. Free, Ranger-guided hikes will be held at five parks to welcome in the new year. The hikes will be at noon at Lily Bay State Park; 1:30 p.m. at Popham Beach State Park; 12:30 p.m. at Range Ponds State Park; 10:30 a.m. at Sebago Lake State Park; and 10 a.m. at Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park. Animal Tracks

1 p.m., in Hinckley

The L.C. Bates Museum is leading a program on animal tracks, helping participants to identify them in the snow. Come learn tricks for identifying tracks and make flash cards to help remember them. The Bates Museum is located on Route 201 in Hinckley. To learn more call 238-4250 or write to
