Boys' roundup: Biddeford comeback knocks off Cheverus

PORTLAND - Nik Lemieux scored a short-handed goal from Nate Crepeau after 24 seconds of overtime to lift Biddeford to a 4-3 victory against Cheverus in a schoolboy hockey game at the Portland Ice Arena.

Biddeford (4-4-1) trailed 3-2 after two periods, but Corey Brown tied it 4:01 into the third.

Jon Fields finished with 43 saves for the Tigers. Cheverus goalie Jason Blier stopped 37 shots.

Cameron McLain scored twice for the Stags (8-2).

THORNTON ACADEMY 7, EDWARD LITTLE 1: Owen Lemoine had two goals and an assist, and Alex Fallon also scored twice as the Golden Trojans (5-3) rolled past the Red Eddies (2-5-2) at Biddeford.

Drew Lavigne added a goal and three assists.

YARMOUTH 10, YORK 1: Patrick Grant recorded his first career goal and finished with a hat trick as the Clippers (2-6-2) downed the Wildcats (5-9) at Yarmouth.

Mark Brown, Isaak Dearden and Kevin Haley added two goals apiece for Yarmouth, which outshot York, 46-19.

GREELY 4, ST. DOMINIC 1: Ted Hart scored two third-period goals and assisted on a third as the Rangers (7-2) broke away from a 1-1 tie against St. Dom's (4-4-1) at Falmouth.

Hart assisted on Mitchel Donovan's third-period goal as well as Tommy Thompson's goal in the first period.

GORHAM 6, PORTLAND/DEERING 5: Mick Mansir, crashing the net, pushed home a rebound 4:03 into overtime to lift the Rams (6-5-1) over Portland/Deering (5-4) at Gorham.

NOBLE/WELLS 7, BONNY EAGLE 4: Dean Pratt scored three goals for Noble/Wells (6-5), which took a 5-3 second-period lead and beat the Scots (5-2) at Gorham.

Noah Pease, Chullainn Kelly and Ryer Smith added a goal and an assist apiece for Noble/Wells, which outshot Bonny Eagle, 32-26.

BASKETBALL

MADISON 76, WISCASSET 67: Austin Kane and Dylan Price scored 21 points each to lead Madison (7-6) over the Wolverines (7-5) at Wiscasset.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 55, BELFAST 41: John Murray had 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Ryan Ripley added 12 points and 11 boards to pace Medomak Valley (10-2) over the Lions (5-6) at Belfast.

POLAND 53, LAKE REGION 48: C.J. Martin hit a pair of tiebreaking free throws with two minutes left and scored nine of his 21 points in the fourth quarter as the Knights (3-9) used a 22-16 run to get by the Lakers (4-8) at Naples.

WATERVILLE 71, LINCOLN ACADEMY 18: Justin Jabar had 26 points with five 3-pointers, as the Panthers (8-5) cruised over the Eagles (2-9) at Newcastle.

CAMDEN HILLS 62, MAINE CENTRAL INSTITUTE 29: Jayson Kuhn scored 15 points and Chandler Crans added nine to lead the Windjammers (8-3) over the Huskies (5-8) at Pittsfield.

BOOTHBAY REGION 65, MT. ABRAM 46: Anthony DiMauro scored 20 points and John Hepburn added 17 to lead the Seahawks (12-1) over Mt. Abram (6-7) at Salem.

SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 53, PINE TREE ACADEMY 17: The Guardians (7-5) opened a 30-11 halftime lead and went on to down the Breakers (4-8) at Eliot.
