The University of Maine is offering an Advanced Pitching Academy for high school pitchers on Saturdays from Dec. 1 through Feb. 16. Softball coach Lynn Coutts will run the clinic inside the Mahaney Dome. Cost is $225 per pitcher. Each pitcher is asked to bring a catcher. Space is limited to 15 pitchers. Assistant coach Mike Coutts will offer an Advanced Hitting Clinic on Thursday nights from Jan. 10 through Feb. 21. Cost is $150 per player, ages 14-18. Foreside Fitness and Tennis is holding a parent/child round robin from 3 to 4:30 p.m Saturday. This is a chance for parents of children ages 6 to 10 to see what 10-and-under tennis is all about. Quick-start tennis is a new format using smaller rackets, slower balls, shorter courts and modified scoring, tailored to the age and size of the child.
