BALTIMORE, Md. - Alex Calbick drove in a pair of runs and scored twice as Maine scored 10 runs over the final four innings to rally past Maryland-Baltimore County for a 10-7 victory in an America East baseball game Sunday.
Eric White and Shane Bussey added two RBI apiece, and Colin Gay and Mike Connolly each scored two runs for the Black Bears (21-14, 11-3 America East), who swept the three-game series against the Retrievers (8-18, 4-11).
Maine has won six in a row and increased its lead atop the America East standings to 3½ games over Albany and Hartford.
ST. JOSEPH'S SWEEPS SUFFOLK: Mike Pratt hit a pair of homers and drove in five runs, and Brandon Chase had four hits, including three triples, to lead the Monks (18-9, 8-2 GNAC) to a 12-3 win over the Rams (21-5, 10-2) in the opening game of a doubleheader at Standish.
In the second game, the Monks' Alex Lorenc went 4 for 4 with a homer and three RBI and Tyler Laverriere struck out eight while throwing a five-hitter in a 7-1 victory.
BOWDOIN SWEEPS COLBY: Luke Regan singled home Tim McGarry in the top of the eighth inning to give the Polar Bears (16-9, 7-2 NESCAC) a 3-2 victory over the Mules (7-11, 0-6) in the opening game.
In the second game, Bowdoin scored six runs in the top of the seventh -- thanks to three errors by Colby -- to collect an 8-2 victory.
Henry Van Zant tossed a complete game for the Polar Bears in the second game, striking out 11 and walking two.
WESLEYAN SWEEPS BATES: The Cardinals (16-9-1) rallied from a 3-0 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 5-4 win over the Bobcats (9-11) in the opening game at Middletown, Conn.
In the second contest, the Cardinals plated five runs in the first inning en route to a 7-2 win.
UMPI SWEEPS SMCC: Daniel Lewis hit a three-run homer in the top of the seventh inning to lift the Owls (6-17) to a 6-3 win over the Seawolves (15-19-1) in the first game at South Portland.
The Owls completed the doubleheader sweep with a 20-4 victory, led by four hits, four runs scored and two RBI from Carlos Villoria.
BINGHAMTON 8, MAINE 0: The Bearcats (18-11, 8-1 America East) scored seven runs in the bottom of the second, powered by a three-run homer from Caytlin Friis, as they downed the Black Bears (6-32, 2-7) at Vestal, N.Y.
Jean Stevens and Jessica Burk each recorded a hit for Maine, and Beth Spoehr threw 32/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on three hits while fanning four.
USM SWEEPS UMPI: Cara Radino was 3 for 5 with four RBI as the Huskies (4-21) cruised to a 17-1 win in the opener, then earned a 6-1 win over UMaine-Presque Isle (3-17) in the second game at Gorham.
Radino legged-out a three-run inside-the-park home run in the opener.
Jessica Hayden added a homer, three RBI and three runs scored, and Lillian Cooper and Nicole Nutter each had a pair of RBI.
BOWDOIN TAKES TWO FROM COLBY: Julia Geaumont scattered seven hits in a 7-1 win for the Polar Bears (18-9, 5-4 NESCAC) in the opener and Melissa DellaTorre allowed four hits in an 11-1 victory over the Mules (8-9, 2-4) in the second game.
