MINNEAPOLIS – Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 21 points, and Trey Burke had 18 points and nine assists to help No. 5 Michigan stave off No. 9 Minnesota 83-75 on Thursday night.

Hardaway hit four 3-pointers in the first half for the Wolverines (17-1, 4-1 Big Ten), who had the lead for the final 33 minutes of the game and finished with 13 steals to fuel their fast break. Nik Stauskas added 11 points.

Austin Hollins led the Gophers (15-3, 3-2) with 21 points and four steals, and Trevor Mbakwe had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

(10) FLORIDA 68, TEXAS A&M 47: Mike Rosario scored 19 points and Patric Young added 18 for Florida’s victory at College Station, Texas.

It was a letdown for Texas A&M (12-4, 2-1 Southeastern Conference), which was coming off an 83-71 victory at Kentucky on Saturday. It was a fifth straight win for Florida (13-2, 3-0).

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 78, ENDICOTT 76: Devin Thompson hit five 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 25 points as the Nor’easters (3-12, 2-6) led by as many as 17 points in the second half and held on to edge the Gulls (7-8, 2-6) in a Commonwealth Coast Conference game at Beverly, Mass.

Endicott twice rallied to tie the game in the second half before a 3-pointer by Thompson and a dunk by Joshua Butler extended the UNE lead to 70-65. Charles Fenner III added 17 points for UNE, and Butler finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

(11) NORTH CAROLINA 71, VIRGINIA 60: Xylina McDaniel had 15 points and nine rebounds to help the host Tar Heels (18-1, 6-0 ACC) cruise past Virginia (11-6, 3-3) for their 11th straight win.

(22) FLORIDA STATE 67, BOSTON COLLEGE 57: Chastity Clayton scored 14 points to lead the Seminoles (14-3, 4-2 ACC) to a sweep of the season series with the Eagles (8-8, 2-3).

(25) MICHIGAN 67, NORTHWESTERN 53: Kate Thompson scored 23 points to lead visiting Michigan (15-2, 4-0 Big Ten) over Northwestern (8-9, 0-4).

SUFFOLK 60, ST. JOSEPH’S 49: Jennifer Ruys finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Rams (11-4, 3-0) over the Monks (8-7, 2-2) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game at Boston.

At halftime Suffolk held a two-point lead and broke the game open with an 11-2 run early in the second half.

Morgan Cahill scored 12 points to pace the Monks and Danyelle Shufelt added 11 points.

UNE 63, ENDICOTT 60: Trailing 60-52 with less than two minutes remaining, the Nor’Easters (11-4, 8-0 CCC) scored the final 11 points to rally past the Gulls (10-5, 6-2) at Beverly, Mass.

Kelly Coleman racked up her fifth double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds for UNE, winner of six straight. Beth Suggs recorded her 10th double-double with 12 points and 14 boards. Liz LeBlanc added 11 points off the bench.
