Red Claws fall to Tulsa 66ers

Maine suffers it's third loss in a row despite 31 points by DaJuan Summers as Tulsa takes a 105-93 win at Reno, Nev.

From staff reports

RENO, Nev. - The Tulsa 66ers, bolstered by three NBA players, beat the Maine Red Claws 105-93 Tuesday night in the NBA D-League Showcase.

It was the third straight loss for Maine (10-8), while Tulsa (9-7) stopped a four-game losing streak.

Forward DaJuan Summers led Maine with 31 points.

Tulsa was paced by three players from its parent team, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Daniel Orton, Jeremy Lamb and Perry Jones combined for 54 points, led by Orton's 25.

Maine trailed 60-46 at halftime, but the Red Claws rallied -- closing to within seven midway through the third quarter.

Maine hung around, but never got any closer.

Tulsa outshot Maine 52 percent to 43 percent, and outrebounded the Red Claws 41-35.

Guard Xavier Silas added 24 points for Maine, while Micah Downs had 18 points and six boards.

Maine once again was short-handed with only eight players dressed. Post players Chris Wright and Fab Melo remain sidelined with concussions, and newly signed guard Andre Barrett will not join the team until after the Showcase.

The Red Claws are also waiting to see if guard Shelvin Mack and forward Kris Joseph return to the D-League. Both players were recently released by their NBA teams -- Mack by the Wizards, and Joseph by the Celtics.

The Red Claws play one more game in Reno, on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. against the Bakersfield Jam (11-6). Maine then returns to the Expo on Saturday night, playing Springfield at 7 p.m.
