Maine Colleges: UMaine men manufacture a 1-0 win

Andrew Sullivan had two goals and an assist for the Monks.

AMHERST 9, BOWDOIN 6: Kane Haffey and Sam Lawlor scored two goals apiece for the Jeffs (2-2, 1-2) as they scored four times in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Polar Bears (1-2, 0-2) in a NESCAC game at Providence, R.I.


MAINE SWEPT: Rutgers (9-9) beat the Black Bears 2-0 in the first game of the day at Clearwater, Fla.

In the second game, Liberty (9-11) scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 4-3 win over the Black Bears (3-24).

Jean Stevens hit a solo home run and Hilary Kane had a two-run double for Maine.

UNE SWEPT: Suny-Brockport scored all of its runs in the first three innings and went on to beat the Nor'easters 13-9 in a mutual season opener at Cape Coral, Fla.

Adrienne Chase had two hits, including a two-run homer and three RBI for the Nor'easters.

In the second game, NYU Polytechnic (1-2) held on for a 4-2 win.

Amanda Vallante had a pair of hits and drove in one run for the Nor'easters (0-2).
