Maine Christians celebrated Easter Sunday with special services, community dinners and egg hunts.

With moderate temperatures and a sunny sky, the weather cooperated for those who observed the holiday at sunrise services at beaches, mountaintops and other scenic spots across the state.

On Patriot’s Day, a state holiday, state, county and municipal offices and public schools will be closed. Federal offices and most retail businesses and banks will be open.

Public bus service in South Portland and the Greater Portland Metro area were closed Sunday and will operate on a Saturday schedule on Patriot’s Day.
