On Sunday, March 8, the Sunday School Class of Standish Congregational Church in Standish presented Sue Kirk, Project Linus Coordinator for Central and Southern Maine, with a quilt they made.

The children designed fabric squares and their teacher, Kelley Heath, assembled them into a quilt. The quilt is being donated to Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital to help provide comfort to a sick child. The children all hugged the blanket and sent their good wishes to the child who will receive it.

Project Linus is a national, non-profit, all-volunteer group, which provides handmade blankets to children in need. In 2004, the Project Linus Central and Southern Maine Chapter comforted 897 children in some form of crisis in the local area. Nationally, Project Linus has donated over one million blankets through over 340 chapters. Fore more information about how you can help, email Sue at portland.me@projectlinus.org or call 642-2275.
