Dear editor,

How sad for the community of Raymond. Loudly and clearly, concerns were voiced by the Raymond School staff and community to reconsider eliminating two critical positions in the school budget, the social worker and the home school coordinator. Other solutions were recommended to no avail. And the limited feedback and weakly communicated support by the school board was disheartening.

A repeat of last year when a guidance position, a teaching position and a health position were cut, the questions are now being raised: How does a town create change when a school superintendent, administration and school board members are not listening? Where is the power of the people? When petitions are signed, data presented, alternate solutions offered and people are begging for the option to let the town decide, how much more can be done?

Shame on you, Raymond school board, administrators and superintendent for not listening or, perhaps worse, listening and ignoring.

Jerilyn Ward
