The Raymond Lions Club is hosting a Candidates Evening on Monday, May 2, at the Jordan Small Middle School for all candidates in the town’s upcoming election on May 20.

All voters are invited to hear the views of candidates and have the opportunity to ask pertinent questions before casting their votes. The event starts at 7 p.m.

The format is as follows: Each candidate will give an opening statement limited to three minutes. The session will then be opened to questions from the audience. This portion will end at 8:45 p.m. or when there are no more questions, whichever comes earlier. Each candidate, in reverse order of opening statements, will give closing remarks limited to 90 seconds.

The Raymond Lions Club regularly holds the event because it believes an informed voter will make the best choice for the town of Raymond.

“This is your opportunity to make your voice heard and your views known to those who will be elected to leadership positions in Raymond. Their actions will affect all of us,” said Bob Jones, event organizer and moderator.

Candidates expected for the event include candidates for the Budget Committee, Board of Selectmen and School Board. Ralph Bartholomew, Cole Tucker and Rolf Olsen are vying for three open Budget Committee seats.

There are two School Board and two Board of Selectmen open seats. School Committee candidates expected to participate Monday night include Roger Ginn, Mary Guiseley, Jeraldine Keane, Frank McDermott and Teresa Sadak. Board of Selectmen candidates include Ada Brown, Dana Desjardins, Christine McClellan and Lawrence Taylor.
