Scout Trip

Thirty-two Scouts and adults from Boy Scout Troop 51 of Windham travelled to Acton, Massachusetts to hike seven miles along the Isaac Davis Trail from Acton to the North Bridge in Concord. This march commemorates one of the first battles of the Revolutionary War that involved 37 Minutemen from Acton and the surrounding area on April 19, 1775. Scouts were awarded a patch for hiking the trail and a medal for knowing the history of this battle.

Six hundred other scouts from as far away as Pennsylvania camped overnight in Acton and rose at 5 a.m. on Sunday, April 17, to join in this hike. This trail is one of the “National Historic Trails” recognized by the Boy Scouts of America.

Troop 51 also visited Minuteman National Park, witnessed colonial life as it was in the days leading to the Revolutionary war, and were present on Lexington Green to watch a reenactment of that battle.
