Mother’s Day Craft

This is a paper craft workshop with “The Crafty Ladies” you know and love. They will provide all the supplies you’ll need. Don’t miss this opportunity to create something special for yourself or your mother or just to learn a new craft. This will be a fun program for the whole family on May 1 from 2-4 p.m. Interested participants should sign up for this program by stopping at the library or by calling 655-4283.

Library Clean Up Day

It’s spring and that means it’s spring cleaning time. Your library needs its annual spring cleaning and the more help, the faster and more fun it will be. If you can spare a few hours helping out, we can use some outside equipment, such as rakes. This will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 14. Remember the more the merrier.

Composting – Let it Rot!

On Wednesday, May 18 starting at 7 p.m., Amy Witt will show us how to turn our kitchen scraps and plant waste into “black gold” for our gardens. Nothing is better for flowers and vegetables than compost and it’s so easy to do. Amy Witt is a Master Gardener and Coordinator for the Master Gardening Program through the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Office. The town of Raymond will be accepting orders for composting bins during this program. This is a great way to start spring, now that the snow is finally gone, and we can think about our gardens.

Honoring our Veterans

On Monday, May 23 the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Raymond will introduce you to veterans who bravely served our country. The veterans or their widows will talk about their experiences and how those experiences impacted their lives and the lives of the people they loved. The Scouts interviewed several veterans and widows of veterans. They have created posters with pictures of the veterans and details about their service, including in some cases how it affected the spouses they left behind. The posters, complete with pictures, will be on display in the Raymond Village Library during the month of May. This program, as all the library programs, is open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. What a wonderful way to honor those who served our country in a very special way.

Reading Group

The book discussion group meets Wednesday, May 27 at 7 p.m. “Thinking in Pictures: and other Reports from my life with Autism”, by Temple Grondin, is the book chosen for discussion in May. All interested persons are invited to attend.

Father’s Day Craft

The mothers had their turn, and now “The Crafty Ladies,” will help us make something special for that Special Man in our lives. Please contact the library to sign up for this fun afternoon. It will begin at 2 p.m. on June 5.

Holiday Closing

The library will be closed on Monday, May 30, commemorating Memorial Day.

Art Exhibit

Treat yourself this spring and come into the library to see the beauteous and bountiful blooms adorning the library walls. Donna Tosh, the artist, and resident of Raymond, uses discarded plywood and hardwood board for a canvas, so most of her paintings can be hung outside. Her vivid colors and beautiful, playful flowers bring smiles to all who see them. This is what spring is all about. Come and see for yourself.

Clean Up – Clean Out

It’s that time again, housecleaning time, it seems like it goes on forever. Here is one way you can help yourselves while cleaning up. Bring all the gently used books, videos, audio books, CD’s, DVD’s, tapes and puzzles that you are no longer using to your library. They will be used to enhance the collection or in the book sale this summer. Since the library is a non-profit organization, all donations are tax deductible.
