U.S. Representative Tom Allen announced today that 12 of his 2004 nominees to the nation’s service academies have received and accepted appointments, two of whom live in the Lakes Region: Stephen Hennigar of Sebago and Traci Thomas of Windham.

“I am very proud of these outstanding young people both for their accomplishments and character which led to their appointments and for their decision to serve our nation as officers in our Armed Forces,” Rep. Allen said. “As they proceed with their education, training and military careers, I am confident they will represent their families, their communities and the state of Maine with distinguished achievement and honorable service. As new leaders, they offer great hope for our nation’s future.”

Stephen R. Hennigar, a 2004 graduate of Lake Region High School, is the son of Lyn and Steve Hennigar of Sebago. He will be attending West Point.

Traci Lynn Thomas, a senior at Windham High School, is the daughter of Terri Lynn Thomas of Windham. She will also attend West Point.
