One of downtown Westbrook’s signature buildings, a holdover from the days before Urban Renewal, is about to be sold.

The Warren Furniture building on Main Street is currently under contract to be sold to an undisclosed buyer. Eleanor Potter, the current owner of the building that houses the furniture store along with apartments and other businesses, referred all questions regarding the sale to her attorney Matthew Goldfarb of Portland.

Goldfarb confirmed that there is a purchase and sale agreement with an undisclosed buyer for the property, and he said he expects the sale to close sometime around the end of August.

Goldfarb would not disclose the name of the buyer or any future plans for the building.

Warren Furniture would continue to operate while the sale is still pending, according to Goldfarb.

Goldfarb would not release any further details about the sale, saying he would prefer to wait until the deal is closed before discussing it any further.
