Buxton Garden Club plans trips

The Buxton Garden Club has announced two upcoming trips.

The club will travel on Thursday, Aug. 4, to tour Steeplebush Farm in Limington. On Thursday, Aug. 18, the club will tour the Robin’s Nest Custom Spas and Water Gardens in Hollis.

Those wishing to attend each event should meet at 6 p.m. For more information, call Sharon Newell at 929-8283.

New guy in town

Buxton residents Jessicsa and Mike Merrill are congratulating Heather and Mackie Penney of Buxton on the birth of their son, Cameron Penney.

Cameron was born on July 12.

Brothers reunited

Bob Gorham, a member of Buxton Fire and Rescue, recently met his brother, Ted Davis, for the first time in 54 years

Davis of Kirby, Ore., was here for a family reunion. “I was the tour guide for a week,” said Gorham, who last saw his brother in 1951 in El Paso, Texas, where Gorham’s dad was stationed.

Gorham said his brother hadn’t changed that much, but he wouldn’t have recognized him in a crowd. “He still has hair,” Gorham said.

Gorham said his brother, a retired park ranger, commented on how green Maine is.

Ivy on dean’s list

Bristol Ivy has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.

Ivy, an English major, is the child of Roland and Darlene Ivy.

Jodi Pinder of Buxton paints the face of Laura Hirshberg of Scarborough during a giant yard sale on Saturday at Little Paws Animal Shelter in Buxton. Pinder will enter the 8th grade at Bonny Eagle Middle School in September and Hirshberg will be in the 6th grade at Scarborough Middle School. Both are volunteers at the shelter.
