Hilton excels academically

Emily Hilton was notified recently that she had been included on the dean’s list for the second semester at the University of Maine at Orono.

Hilton, who is enrolled in the nursing program, also received special recognition to an undergraduate student for outstanding academic performance with the honor of receiving the Presidential Achievement Award.

She is the daughter of William and Colleen Hilton.

LaChance, Carr to marry

Kevin LaChance and Krista Carr will marry on Saturday, July 30, in South Portland.

He is the son of Michael and Sharon LaChance of Westbrook. LaChance works in the semiconductor industry and is a server at Bruno’s Restaurant in Portland.

Carr is the daughter of Mary Carr of Scarborough and Alan Carr of Albany. Shirley Millett of Standish is her grandmother.

Krista works part time at Longhorn Steakhouse in South Portland and is a full time mother.

The Westbrook High School class of 1955 is planning a 50th reunion, and the committee is searching for 16 classmates.

Garland college graduate

Meagan A. Garland graduated from Central Maine Community College in May with an associate in science degree in early childhood education.

Garland has accepted employment in her field with Heidi’s House in Scarborough. She is the daughter of Kathee and Jim Garland of Laffin Drive.

Cutline: Kali Burke

Burke high honors grad

Kali Burke graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y., with high honors with a degree in graphic design and bachelor of fine arts degree.

Burke, a graduate of Westbrook High School, is the artistic director for an international company based in Rochester.

She is the daughter of Mary (Doggett) Burke and the late Tony Burke. Her grandparents are Towers and Doris Doggett and Addie and Jack Burke, all of Westbrook.

Concert in the park

The Terri White Band will play from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 27, in the free summer concert series on Wednesdays in Riverbank Park.

Free library jazz concert

Cool Shade of Blue will play jazz and swing at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, at Warren Memorial Library, 479 Main St.

The concert series will be held each Wednesday through Aug. 24.

Brits back home

Jill and Ugo Giulio left Westbrook on Monday for Westerham, England, following a month visit in Westbrook with her mom, Queenie Buxton.

They reside close to where Winston Churchill lived, about 15 miles from London.

While the British couple was here, they celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary, which coincided with her mom’s birthday on June 30.

Jill was born in England and migrated to the United States in 1953. She attended Saccarappa School and graduated from Westbrook High School in 1962.

After graduating from the University of Maine in 1966, she returned to England, married and stayed. They own a travel-tourism business. “It’s the longest we’ve ever had off,” she said about her visit here.
