The Westbrook Food Pantry is looking for a new home.

The pantry is currently open every Tuesday at a space in the Dana Warp Mill, but the pantry’s lease on the space is expiring at the end of August. Jeanne Rielly, who volunteers at the food pantry, said she expects the food pantry will need a new home by September.

The pantry hoped to open in a new space in the basement the American Legion hall on Dunn Street, but Rielly said plans for that space have been put on hold because the city feels the basement space would be too difficult for clients and volunteers to use.

Rielly said city staff has been working with the food pantry, trying to secure an alternative space, but so far have been unsuccessful. She said the food pantry would welcome any ideas or suggestions of where to look for new space. Residents who are interested in helping out the food pantry are asked to call Rielly at 797-8746, or contact her by e-mail at erielly2@earthlink.net.
