Kevin Hancock, President and CEO of Hancock Lumber Company, was elected Chairman of The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association at the organization’s annual meeting and industry summit held Oct. 1 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Over 400 industry leaders attended the three-day summit.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the association represents 5,000 lumber companies with over 500,000 employees nationwide. The association represents the industry in Washington D.C. on legislative and regulatory affairs. Additionally, the association serves as a central point of contact for lumber dealers from across the United States to come together on all issues of national significance for the industry.

Kevin Hancock is the first person ever from the state of Maine to serve as national association chair and is also the youngest person ever to serve as chair. Kevin succeeds past chair Sam Dunn from Dunn Lumber of Daytona Beach, Florida.

“I am humbled, honored and excited to have this opportunity to serve our industry”, Hancock stated. Outlining his priorities for the coming year, Hancock pledged to “personally reach out to all dealers nationwide and invite them to get more involved in our association.”

Kevin concluded his acceptance remarks to the industry assembled in Vancouver by promising to “have fun celebrating our industry and our collective work to serve it.”

Hancock Lumber, established is 1848, is a 6th generation family business based in Casco, Maine. Hancock Lumber currently operates three Eastern White Pine sawmills and 10 lumberyards in Maine with 600 employees.
