A Buxton man was to appear in court Tuesday after police charged him with the sexaul assault of a 16-year-old girl.

Police arrested Brian Corbran, 28, of 4421 Christian Road, Buxton, Saturday in Standish.

Capt. William Rhoads of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department said Monday that Corbran would face charges of unlawful sexual touching, furnishing alcohol to a minor and aggravated promotion of prostitution.

“He offered her money for sex,” Rhoads said.

Deputy Sheriff Matt Tuffs and Gorham Police responded to a report of a sexual assault at 6:10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, at the Coito residence on Holiday Lane in the Pine Tree Trailer Park in Standish. Denise Coito reported that a 16-year-old girl at the residence had been assaulted and that a man had been ejected from the home. Rhoads said that Corbran was a houseguest and a friend at the Standish residence.

Gorham Police Chief Ron Shepard said Gorham officers Wayne Coffin and Ben Moreland responded to a request from the Sheriff’s Department for backup. Shepard said Moreland found the suspect near the entrance to the trailer park.

When police arrived, Corbran was outside and was not fully dressed. “He was not clothed for the weather,” Rhoads said.

After speaking with Coito and the juvenile girl, Tuffs arrested Corbran at the scene. Corbran was taken to Cumberland County Jail in Portland. A Sheriff’s Department detective will be assigned to the case.

Rhoads said the only prior information the Sheriff’s Department had about Corbran is that he had been summoned in June in a traffic stop for operating after suspension.
