LeBlanc named All-New England

Stacey LeBlanc of Standish was one of three members of the University of Southern Maine women’s soccer team to be named to the New England Women’s Intercollegiate Soccer Association All-New England team.

The Lake Region High School graduate was cited as “a stalwart on the Huskies’ back line for the past three seasons.” USM finished 11-7-2 and advanced to the Little East Conference semi-finals.

Maine represented at national cross country meet

A number of Maine runners braved high winds and the snow-packed trail at Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I., Saturday for the National USATF Junior Olympic Cross Country Meet.

The members of the midget girls team from Maine – the Lakers – combined to finish 11th out of 24 squads. Team member Mary Margaret Green, of Windham, ran the course in 15:54.05, good for 228th overall.

The 13-14 year old girls from Maine, the Youth Division Lakers, finished 18th out of 20 teams.

Goodman hailed

Earlier this month, Kary Goodman of South Windham was one of two members of the University of New Hampshire women’s swim team to be named America East Swimming Performers of the Week. Goodman set a pair of school records at a meet at Brown University.

Scots skaters lauded for sportsmanship

Prior to the start of their first game of the season Saturday, the Bonny Eagle hockey team was presented with the 2004-05 Maine Principals’ Association sportsmanship banner. The award is voted on by coaches throughout the state.

Correction

Due to a reporting error, it was incorrectly stated last week that Bonny Eagle graduate Josh Avery was his school’s valedictorian last year. In fact, the school does not have such a designation.
