Cutline Misc WFD HydrantClear5916.jpg
The icy end to a pre-holiday snowstorm meant extra work for Westbrook firefighters as they made their way around the city clearing out hydrants. Mark Giroux and Jim Blanche, firefighters from Engine 2 Company, used an axe and a shovel to attack the crusty deposits on Spring Street recently. The city is asking residents to “adopt” a fire hydrant near their home, making sure the hydrant is shoveled out and accessible in case of an emergency.
