Don Cross, owner of Crossroads Connection Courier Service, and Cindy Hazelton, director of the Gorham Recreation Department presented the Gorham Ecumenical Food Pantry with $1,580 raised from the annual “Burn Off the Turkey Run.” This money will go towards helping families in Gorham area parishes meet their needs this winter.
“We served almost 1,000 families last year,” said Fran Doucette, director of the food pantry. “That’s about 70 to 80 a month. “
The annual race, held since 1998 on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, is co-sponsored by the Gorham Business & Civic Exchange and the Gorham Recreation Department. Over 150 runners participated in the 5K run, which starts and finishes at Gorham High School.
