The Inn at Long Lake is 100 years old this year and to mark this grand occasion, innkeepers Buddy Marcum and Keith Neubert are holding one spectacular party honoring not only their beautiful inn, but also the Naples Public Library which will soon be 100 years old as well.

This Centennial Celebration is scheduled for Sunday, May 28.

The building was first constructed in 1906 as an annex to the Lake House Hotel and saw use as a boarding house for summer workers and was later divided into private apartments for several families.

After undergoing a redesign and renovation, it opened as The Inn at Long Lake in the 1980s. The inn is the largest in the area with sixteen beautifully appointed guest rooms and operates year round.

Innkeepers Marcum and Neubert have continued the inn’s long tradition of being involved with their community by offering the use of the inn for numerous community-oriented events. Craft Fairs, Christmas Teas and fashion shows have all been held in the inn’s spacious “great room” before a roaring fire and decorated for the season.

“We’re very proud of The Inn at Long Lake and its involvement in being part of a vibrant Lakes Region. We like the feeling of giving back to our community, so it seemed only natural to include the Naples Library in our celebration,” said Neubert, “especially since the library will also be celebrating its 100th birthday next year. Two beautiful old entities like these deserve a party!”

And what a party it will be according to the innkeepers. Guests are being asked, if they wish, to come costumed as a character or representative of an era from the past 100 years. This event may see Henry Ford rubbing elbows with flappers, 30’s era gangsters, FDR, Annie Oakley and the Beatles, not to mention local characters.

Elegant hors d’oeuvres prepared by the Inn’s own Chef Neubert will be served. There will be a cash bar, music, and the whole event will be filmed by Lake Region Television to be shown as the season one finale for the station’s “Cooking Inn Style” cooking series.

At the conclusion of the party, party goers will hold a “Grand Promenade” from the Inn down to the Naples Causeway where they will board the Songo River Queen for a

complimentary sunset cruise on Long Lake.

Tickets for the event are priced at $40 each and are available for purchase at the library. For more information, please call the Naples Library at 693-6841.
