Scarborough (0-2) @ Noble (1-1)

Scarborough is coming off two losses to start that saw them outscored 90-7. Its defense showed promise last week at Massabesic but in the end the Red Storm were overmatched.

Noble comes into this game following a big game against Sanford which they won, 41-19. The Knights were defeated by Deering, 41-6, to start the season.

If the Knights can find some consistency they could be tough. Scarborough needs its defense to build on last week’s game.

Prediction: Noble 35 Scarborough 14

Cape Elizabeth (2-0) @ York (2-0)

It’s a battle of unbeaten teams in York this week. Cape’s defense has allowed only two points in its two games, while the offense is putting up big numbers. Against Fryeburg Academy they scored 37 and then 27 against Falmouth. Sean Meagher has been hot for the Capers with three touchdowns.

The Wildcats have been equally dominant this season. With a 47-13 win over Poland and a 42-12 win over Gray-New Gloucester. York has the ability to score from anywhere on the field. They have several different weapons they can use so any defense – even Cape’s – has its work cut out for it.

If the Capers can stop the Wildcats dangerous running attack, they might roll in this one. York needs to spread the ball around to keep the Cape defense off balance.

Prediction: York 24 Cape 21

South Portland (0-2) @ Westbrook (0-2)

Someone has to win. With athletes returning from suspension, Westbrook is as full strength as they are going to get, but they are still an opponent that South Portland may be able to handle. However, it’s tough to tell what this Westbrook team is capable of. While undermanned the Blazes fell to powerhouses Deering (2-0) and Biddeford (2-0).

Both offenses should see more daylight than they did in their first two games with this game coming down to which team makes fewer mistakes.

Prediction: Westbrook at home, 35-24.
