Windham (1-4) @ Deering (4-1) Friday 7 p.m.

Windham is a better team than its record shows. The Eagles have been making the league’s top teams sweat on a regular basis, playing both Gorham and Portland closely before ultimately coming up short.

Coming off a humbling 33-12 rout to Gorham, Deering will be fired up and ready to play. Stopping halfback Brian Sandora should be a focus for the Eagles, whose defensive line has proven capable of slowing elite back.

Prediction: Deering 28, Windham 14

Bonny Eagle (5-0) @ South Portland (0-5) Saturday 1 p.m.

Bonny Eagle is coming off a 35-0 win over Westbrook – a team that defeated this week’s opponent South Portland, 8-0. Star backs Scott Proudman and Stan Watts didn’t play against the Blue Blazes and may continue to nurse injuries against the Red Riots.

It shouldn’t matter. Scots quarterback Ryan Walker, a senior but first-year starter, is proving to be one of the top QBs in Class A. He’s a threat to run and pass and should give South Portland fits.

Prediction: Bonny Eagle 32, South Portland 6

Lake Region (0-5) @ Cape Elizabeth (5-0) Saturday 1:30 p.m.

The Lakers have been under-achieving all season. They are a young and inexperienced team and their opponents have taken advantage of that.

The Capers are coming off another close game that nearly saw their unbeaten season come to an end. They were able to hold off Wells, 7-0. They should be able to get their offense back on track against Lake Region this week.

Prediction: Cape Elizabeth, 27-6

Last week’s record: 3-0

Season: 6-2
