Bonny Eagle Middle School students participated in the recent Maine Spelling Bee, which was sponsored by the Bangor Daily News.

Students from the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades qualified for the meet after partaking in spelling bees which were held in their clans (middle school class groupings).

Participating students were Stephanie Aiken, Mallory Brooks, Shane Corbett, Albert Dusseault, Paige Emery, SaraBeth George, Abigail Hayes, Samuel Hazelton, Thomas Hazelton, Asa Heath, Garrett Holbrook, Matthew Hoyt, Joseph Leeman, Thomas Light, Christian Malarsie, Brianna Manson, Chastity Morton, Andrew Mowatt, Jacob Rush, Catherine Shepard, John Thomas, Joshua Tibbetts, Stephanie Waddell, and Brooke Young.

This year’s winner was SaraBeth George and the runner-up was Stephanie Waddell, both eighth grade students. They will compete in the York County Bee on March 13 at Wells Junior High School.
